The staff that came to my wife were the very best and made what is a very hard time in to something I could cope with. Thank you very much.

Review of Adult Bereavement Service
21st January 2023

At the time I asked for help, I knew something was wrong but not exactly was the issue following my Mum’s passing. I was able to pinpoint what the real issue was on the first session of talking to Allan which then helped me sort my thoughts and feelings out. Each time we spoke, Allan did a check in on things we’d discussed before. I was impressed that he taken notes, it made me feel like he cared. I was given things to work on in between sessions and I was able to move forward through these and the sharing of my worries and concerns at that particular time. I really looked forward to talking to him as each time we spoke, I felt more at peace with the situation and what had been happening which was out of my control. Although life is now different, I feel at peace with life without Mum and the changes to my family unit.

Suggested improvements
I would have preferred to speak to someone sooner but I understood the need for a certain amount of time to elapse after losing my Mum. It would have been helpful to me for a date to be given in the first instance that the counselling would commence.

My counsellor Wendy was understanding, let me talk, gave me ideas and tips on what might help me. I cannot recommend this service enough, I feel that a weight has been lifted and that I can now move on. Thank you St Helena and Wendy

Review of Adult Bereavement Service

My situation was a little different to those usually answering these questions I think in that my dad took his own life. My counsellor was alright the right amount of professional and considerate and kind. I felt very comfortable and it quickly became a safe place and time to express my innermost thoughts and feelings. I was allowed the space to just be, whether that was sad or confused. I felt reassured by the chats I had with Debbie and new ideas/thought processing was suggested to me to help find my way through what I was going through. More than anything, I felt listened to and understood. I was given the tools to think about how I would live the rest of my life. I will forever be indebted to Debbie and will miss her friendly ear and useful chat very much.

Suggested improvements
I can't think of anything, my needs were catered to.

Hannah was amazing, it's been such a struggle since my husband passed away and having counselling has helped so much. I hope to get another fee sessions later on in my journey. Such caring, dedicated people.
